Sorry, Made a mistake in that address. Where it says " Under Survey Areas ", it should read Geology Under Survey Areas. Can't read my own notes.

Geodes are the hollow ones with crystal or chalcedony lining. Thunder eggs are for the most part solid with an agate pattern inside. Then there are agate nodules. They're the ones with nice banding inside. Often with different colors of banding. Here in South Dakota we have several different kinds of agates. The Fairburn agate which is found here and in Nebraska and Wyoming is considered by most collectors to be the most beautiful in the world. A very close second would be the Patagonian agates from Argentina. If you want a really great site about agates, Google University of Nebraska - Lincoln. on the left side of the page, click on Geology & Soils. on the new page on the left side click on Under Survey Areas. Scroll down to the Agates section, and click on Agate Page Database. You can find pictures and descriptions of agates from all over the world there. It takes a little practice to negotiate the page, But it's a great site. I keep this one in my bookmarks, so I can go right to it.
